About Moran Iron Works, Inc.

Moran Iron Works

Founded in 1978 by Thomas Moran, Moran Iron Works, Inc. is a dynamic, flexible, fabrication facility that has been designing, developing, and installing custom metal work projects for over 30 years. We are located in Onaway, MI a rural area in Northern Lower Michigan, just minutes from interstate I-75 and the deep water Port of Calcite in Rogers City, MI. Our facility is fully certified in accordance with the American Institute of Steel Construction, Standard for Steel Building Structures, Simple Steel Bridges, with a Sophisticated Paint Endorsement as well as being an American Welding Society Certified Fabricator.

Since our beginning we have grown to a robust company of over 45 employees. Our strength has always been based on our personnel. We have a very innovative staff of long-term employees that perform professionally, creatively, and efficiently for the benefit of our customers. Our key people have a combined total of over 200 years experience in the metal working industry. All of our welders are certified according to the AWS D1.1 standard, as well as we have three AWS Certified Welding Inspectors on staff, ensuring that your projects (and our reputation) have the highest level of quality and integrity.

Our modern, well equipped, 50,000 square foot fabrication shop keeps downtime to a minimum for many municipalities, industries, contractors, and government entities. Because we specialize in one-of-a-kind fabrication and conversion, our engineering and fabrication flexibility allows you to customize your projects and tailor them to your own specifications. We are frequently able to reverse-engineer and fabricate a standard part faster than it can be shipped from the original manufacturer, and at a comparable cost.

Moran Iron Work, Inc.’s ability to fabricate and install heavy equipment and machinery is augmented by our wide variety of heavy cranes, ranging from our overhead shop cranes with a capacity of up to 30 tons, to our 75 Ton mobile truck crane. Our Crane and Heavy Equipment operators are all certified according to the NCCCO standards.

We excel at projects where precision and quality is as important as timely delivery. We believe integrity is the vehicle of success, we keep our word and commitments promising only what we expect to deliver.

Crystal Veal
Accounting Assistant
Not as easy as it sounds. Most of her day is spent picking up the pieces, and making sure all of the daily entries are made including Payables, Receivables, and Payroll. Away from the office her three children keep her on the go and moving all the time.
